The sold-out crowd of Ramones fans were generating enough steam heat inside Tremorz to collapse all but the sturdiest of mohawks. We arrived late, completely missing the Lucky Stiffs and only catching the tail end of the Dirty Babies set.

I didn't immediately recollect who Damnation was, but when they tore into Hell Race I realized I'd heard them on the H.E.A.R. This compliation, that was organized by my friend Ginger Coyote (White Trash Debuntantes). Lead singer Shaun has an incredibly captivating stage presence, and a wonderful ability to be menacing while interacting with an audience. Damnation's hard hitting, balls-out punk rawk exhibited the energy that seems to be missing from a lot of performances.

Then it was the moment everyone had been waiting for... Marky Ramone took the stage with T. Jay and Dagger from the South End Brawlers, and showed us all he's still got it. The short set included classic anthems like Beat On The Brat, I'm Against It and Chinese Rocks with numerous guest vocalists, including City Life scribe Josh Ellis on Sheena Is A Punk Rocker and some fans who grabbed the mike off the stage. Heck, Dee Dee Ramone even showed his support by turning up at the show, but I didn't spot him standing in the back of the room.
