![]() The Excessories March 2, 2002 - Double Down Saloon, Las Vegas
The Excessories are fronted by Melanie Coffee (Sluts For Hire, Alter Egos) along with her husband Rich Coffee (The Tommyknockers, Egomaniacs, Thee Fourgiven) on lead guitar, bass player Dino Everett (The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs, Bubble) who happens to be the only tattooed member of the band, and drummer Roy J. Morgan (The Neurotics, The Countdowns). Their energetic pop punk set opened with Su-Su-Susie, quickly followed by Punk Rock Boy and everything on the Sympathy For The Record Industry release Pure Pop For Punk People, including the highly popular S-U-M-M-E-R. Unfortunately, Glenn wasn't allowed to sing his own version F-U and F-D-R, which is how he misinterpreted the chorus the first time I played it for him. Then they journeyed into cover song territory with The Runaways' Cherry Bomb, Blondie's X-Offender, The Yum Yum's Crazy Over You, and my favorite, DM3's terrific 1x2x Devastated. |
