![]() Richard Cheese and Lounge Against The Machine January 12, 2002 - Venus Lounge, Las Vegas
If you're not hip to this brilliant act, they play lounge covers of songs that are "favorites of the kids". The show opened with many of the songs on their CD including Nine In Nails' Closer, Blink 182's What's My Age Again and The Beastie Boys Fight For Your Right along with numbers originally by Eminem, Limp Bizkit, Radiohead and many others that I can't remember since I was laughing so hard. Midway through the set, Richard spirited our pal Karin away to the stage, held her close and gave her his "room key". Such a charmer (if you know what I mean)! Richard is a gracious performer and honored a batch of audience requests, including mine for AC/DC's You Shook Me All Night Long, a classic rocker that can easily be twisted into a variety of styles including lounge and country (My Opera Beggars boys used to do a great twangy version). I don't think there is any popular song that Bobby Ricotta, Gordon Brie, Buddy Gouda and Richard can't handle... I guess we'll find out soon enough because Glenn is prepared to request Judas Priest's Screaming For Vengeance at one of their return engagements, scheduled for February 1 and 2nd. I think I'll ask for KISS' Rock & Rock All Night. And you better be there, ya dig?! |
