A Las Vegas Christmas Vol. 2A Las Vegas Christmas Volume 2 is a perfectly acceptable and almost family friendly Christmas album (if you ignore the bleeped obcenities in the bloopers).

Now, don't get me wrong, I actually collect offensive holiday songs, but the wicked edginess I enjoy so much just isn't there on this compilation, and I don't think it was meant to be. Bonus points, however, to Poet Jester and Queue for their original creations, since most of the songs are fairly standard rock or ska interpretations of classics.

Tracks range from interesting; Inside Scarlet contributes a sultry (but rather overproduced) golddigger rendition of Santa Baby, to irritating; like Mix 94.1 FM's Mark and Mercedes phone call-compiled 12 Days of Las Vegas Christmas. And for authentic Vegas flavor, Siegfield and Roy (and their tigers!) wish us a "magical holiday season."

Fall In Line's Silent Night starts classically, but ends sounding like Korn carolling. Monster Zero takes a good go at You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch, but my favorite version remains the cover by Carnival of Shame (there's just something about Garland Monroe's rumblingly deep voice). The Joint Chiefs deal Run-DMC's Christmas In Hollis a Vegas turn and while Let It Snow from Epstein's Mother could stand to lose the intro by Las Vegas' most annoying weatherman, Mark Pfister (yeah, I know some people LIKE him!), but Shawn Eiferman's soulful vocals make up for it.

It is also worth noting that at least six of these songs also appeared on 2000's original Las Vegas Christmas CD, but L.A.S. Music Group is donating the proceeds from this year's CD to AFAN, Aid For AIDS of Nevada.
