The Superbees - High Volume

Superbees - High VolumeIf strategy were all it takes to be successful, then The SuperBees have made all the right moves in their career. From the well-planned release of their EP before the Las Vegas Shakedown performance to the live footage in the Los Angeles local music documentary Badsville, these guys have done what it takes to help build a fan base outside the L. A. music scene. Lucky for them, their steady foundation of choices and hard work teamed with excellent timing results in a first full-length CD that delivers what the masses today are gagging for: high-energy, haute attitude, retro garage rock and roll reminiscent of Detroit's MC5/Stooges heyday.

From beginning to end, High Volume certainly lives up to its name. Dave James' vocals seem to effortlessly pour over the jagged guitar riffs and scorching drums like a stiff-mixed musical cocktail. Really Wanna Know, the opening track, features the "Buzz, Buzz, Buzz around/Shake our way right through your town" lyrics that stick in your mind like a slick, well-versed theme song. Got This Feeling, previously released as a single and a current music video, showcases rolling guitars and zigzagged beats, fused with wailing, sultry vocals. James' poetic plea to the listener, "You got to start living before your time is through/Because I've been in the dark for too long/I've got to sing, I've got to sing my song," sounds as if he is preaching life's lost lessons to the church of the less-experienced. Moving on to Girl From K.C., they pull no stops in glamorizing the underage, drinking, drug abusing, attractive female rock and roll cliché. With high-energy guitar, Jerry Lee Lewis-like piano accompaniment, cheeky storytelling lyrics, and additional back-up vocals, this song has "single" written all over it.

The SuperBees have put together a sweet collection of edgy, infectious songs that, short and simply stated, capture the raw energy and essence of rock and roll. What more could you ask for? Buy it, play it loud, and enjoy.

High Volume can be purchased on-line from Acetate Records,
and as an added note, also features Rolling Stone darling Cody ChesnuTT on backing vocals and percussion.
